Plate Cancellation

If you need to cancel your vehicle registration/licence plate, you are entitled to any amount remaining from the original registration fee minus a $10 (plus GST) government administration fee.

Cancelling from another province? If you can provide proof of when you surrendered the Alberta plate in another province, we can backdate your refund.

PLEASE NOTE: Refunds are normally backdated to match your new registration/plate in another jurisdiction, but only until the end of Alberta's fiscal year. No refunds will be backdated after March 31 of every year.
